About Jennifer (Jen) Ozzello (she, her) MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my professional experience. My name is Jennifer Ozzello. I like to go by Jen (she, her). I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Mental wellness is my passion, and I am dedicated to partnering with you to reach your own self-described mental wellness goals, in a safe and accepting space with the highest quality of care. My approach to partnering in your care is holistic, integrative, and individualized, recognizing and respecting individual treatment preferences and beliefs. We all deserve to be seen, heard, and validated, whatever challenge(s) we are facing. I value your trust and the sharing of your experiences, struggles, and wins. My goal is to support you in living your best life. It is an honor and privilege to be able to serve in this field.
I enjoy helping adults with a variety of mental health disorders with special interests in depression, anxiety, addiction, bipolar disorders, and dual diagnoses.
I have been married to the same person for 28 years, the love of my life, and have 2 sons (17 and 22—one is my bio baby and one is my adopted baby) who are the lights of my life. I am also a rescue dog mom of 3 fur babies and am passionate about animal rescue and support. I am somewhat of an introvert (not to be mistaken for shy) and love spending time at home, but I also love traveling with my small circle. I love reading paranormal and thriller fiction, walking my dogs, binging on a good Netflix series, and cooking many different ethnic foods.
Why I Love What I Do
I have struggled with anxiety most of my life. It is real and tough and it affects so many aspects of life. I also struggled with postpartum depression. I have many family members with mental health challenges as well. The common denominator for all has always been trying to be taken seriously, being seen and heard, and trying to obtain quality care. That is why I work in this field—to be the difference and example for so many, to make sure you are seen, heard, and provided the respect, dignity, compassion, and acceptance you deserve. We are all just people and deserve to be treated as such, not less than. We all have value and worth—YOU have value and worth. I will take the time to get to know you.
Professional Experience
I have worked in the mental health field for more than 10 years, in a wide variety of settings and with people from 3 years old to 99+ years old. I have worked in inpatient settings, outpatient settings, the public school system (nursing and behavioral health), and the community mental health and addiction medicine setting.
